GOTS and Fair Wear Foundation Certificates. What exactly do they mean?

In this post we want to explain what exactly it means that many of our products have the GOTS and Fair Wear Foundation certifications since, as consumers, this information can be of great help if we seek to acquire responsible and sustainable products.

GOTS CERTIFICATION

The fabric of our t-shirts has the Global Organic Textile Standard certification, which ensures, among other things, the traceability of the entire production chain from the cotton fields.

It is an internationally recognized certification that assures consumers that textile processing has not harmed the environment and that it is also socially conscious. To achieve this objective, a series of ecological and social criteria that companies must adopt are defined. Standards that cover the production of raw material, packaging, transportation, dyeing, stamping, storage, technical parameters of quality, labor and social responsibility and much more. The fulfillment of all the mandatory criteria for certification, must undergo an annual inspection carried out by independent institutes also with GOTS certification.

FAIR WEAR FOUNDATION

This certification ensures that in the manufacture of the product, fair trade practices have been followed and that the rights and dignified conditions of the workers who have participated in the production process have been respected.

Although the Global Organics Textile Standard certification has its own parameters and fair trade criteria, it is a magnificent complement to garments that doubly ensures the free choice of employment, non-discrimination in employment, non-exploitation of children, freedom of association, hours reasonable work, decent wages and guaranteed job security among others that can be known through  Fair Wear Foundation official website.

In addition to these two important certifications, in debut many of our products have other certifications such as Carbon Trust, Soil Association Organic Certification, BSCI Social Responsibility Certification or OEKO-TEX Standard 100. Go ahead and find information about them.
